In our kitchen window we have the pot plant Cissus growing around an arch. The other day the kittens were playing in the window (as usual…) and then Ronja poked her head through the Cissus. We just looked at each other and said: get the camera! We got a cute picture!
Last week we went to the vet for a second vaccination and ID marking (chipping). It all went well. In the car, they basically slept the whole time on the way there and back (only a quarter's journey) and once there it was exciting to explore a whole new room. The vet thought they were exemplary kittens 🙂
It feels a bit boring, but now it's almost time for the kittens to move. It is always sad when we come to this, but at the same time, it is wonderful to be able to share these fantastic kittens! They are on Thursday 14 weeks and already then two of them leave, but first all four of them are going to the vet on wednesday to undergo an inspection. It has gone very fast since the first day in March when Nellie gave birth to the kittens so well, until now when they are almost half grownups in body. Here is a small gallery where you can see their progress week by week:
Since just over a year ago, the requirement has been changed from twelve to 14 weeks of age when it comes to moving away from home. We think it's good, the kittens develop very socially in the last two weeks. They very much want to be with us where we are, such as waiting for us when we get out of the shower or meeting us at the door when we get home.
They think too – just like most cats – that it's exciting when something new happens. The day after the midsummer party we were going to move chairs back and then it was very exciting that the chairs were suddenly in a new place. Must try!
With kittens it's like with small children – you need to make sure that you don't have anything lying that it would be inappropriate to nibble on. There are few places in the house that they cannot access now, so flower vases and other things are mostly concentrated on the kitchen island… Here, only water is tested, Rasmus drinks from a glass and Rufus from a jug:
Speaking of small children, here is a picture of little Ronja getting a kiss from little Sigrid:
Of course, the kittens still sleep a large part of the day. Nowadays, they like to sleep at the top of the cat stand, but also preferably on a sofa or as in the picture where Rufus sleeps in his favorite bowl.
And they love wet food! Most of the time, they are in the kitchen and tail around our feet when it's time for breakfast or supper, but sometimes we get the chance to hear them run like a buffalo herd through the house :-). They will come as soon as we say “ksksks” – and it goes fast!
Today's post will end with a picture of Rufus and Rino. Now we will enjoy all the kittens as much as we can for a few more days. 13-weeks' photos – which are the last ones on this litter – can be found at R litter's page.
