Eleven weeks and everywhere!

Posted on 9 June, 2024 by Pernilla

Then the day came when it was no longer possible to stop the kittens with the gate. We always have a high stool standing by the gate to make it easier for the adult cats to jump over, and this week the kittens managed to get up on the stool.

Rufus has found his way up in the window of the TV room

So then it was time to remove the gate and let the kittens out into the whole house. We usually wait with that as long as possible so that they are big enough to handle the stairs, and that turned out to be going great now. They jump up and down the stairs and watch out for falling down.

It's fun to have them all over the house because then it becomes so clear that they like to come along and be where we are. Now they also have access to another couch or two, they like that <img draggable="false" role="img" class="emoji" alt="🙂" src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/14.0.0/svg/1f642.svg">

As long as we have the gate, it is easy to separate the food so that the kittens do not have access to the adults' food, we want them to eat the energy-rich feed that is specifically for kittens. Now it's a little trickier, but the little ones have not yet managed to get onto the iron stove in the kitchen, so that's where the big cats get their food.

Mother Nellie shows now and then that she thinks the kittens should start fending for themselves. Not all the time, usually she is caring and friendly, but sometimes she snarls or growls a little at them. It is as it should be and the kittens are not particularly concerned about it. They go away and do something else.

Quite often we have our lovely granddaughter Sigrid, now eleven months, visiting here. She likes the kittens and they are curious about her. We get to be around all the time, because Sigrid isn't very good at controlling how hard she pets so far… But the kittens think it's fun with the activity that happens when Sigrid is here, and they can also sleep well in the middle of all the commotion.

This weekend, Rasmus got to meet his future family remotely in a video meeting. He will get such a nice home and also have the cat friends Ludvig and Lillen to play with. Now it has been decided where all the kittens will move, it feels very nice that we have such nice homes for all four of them. It will of course be a bit sad when they move, but we get to enjoy them for about three more weeks.

As usual, you can find this week's nicer photos at R litter's page.
