It feels so strange that we have now had the kittens with us for half the time we will have them. At 14 weeks old, they are ready to move away from home, big as teenagers. It is a favor to follow them on the way there, and a little sad that it goes by so quickly! They are so cute now, with their woolly fur and long whiskers:
For almost two weeks we have had the cousins staying with us, the kittens have received a lot of attention and socialization time. That's great, we always try to have a lot of visitors while we have kittens.
Already after a few weeks, it was noticeable that these kittens love to explore things, anything new that comes their way must immediately be investigated. They have now got to come out in the kitchen too and it was so much fun watching them discover that the world had become bigger! Mother Penny spoke to them a little worriedly to keep them calm, but they themselves only thought of it as an adventure!
It's lovely to have the kittens in the kitchen, because then we have them more naturally around us than before. But we have to watch where we put our feet, and make sure they haven't run into the pantry when we close the door! Soon they found the corner of the kitchen to sleep in as all litters tend to do:
The kittens have learned that they can demand attention, they sit below us, looks up and meows. They are not satisfied until they are allowed to come up in the arms for a while. They have started to purr just from being petted now too 🙂
The kittens love food and gain weight well, twice a day they get wet food and come straight to the plate when we say “ksksksks”.
The rest of the day they have free access to dry food.
Every evening when it's feeding time, I spend a longer time with each kitten to get them used to being combed, get the claws trimmed, teeth examined and more. I then also weigh them, they always think it's fun to play in the bowl on the scale. Here it is Sixten and Sally who have climbed into the bowl at the same time:
You can find the seven-week pictures at the page of the S litter. When we were first going to photograph them, they were so mischievous that it was completely impossible to catch them in a picture. We had to wait until a later time and then disturb them when they were sleeping so that they would sit still for a few seconds 🙂
